When accidents occur inside the home

Do not punish the dog in any way if it has an accident. You will traumatise the dog and just be wasting your own time and energy.

Do not use ammonia-based cleaning products as urine contains ammonia and this will attract the dog to continue using the same spot. Instead, use diluted vinegar and water or bicarbonate of soda and water to remove the smell. Review whether you are providing sufficient opportunities for your dog to relieve itself.

Finally, remember that, for toilet purposes and its emotional well-being, a dog must not be left alone for more than four hours at a time.
